Marylou’s Story

Bowen Therapy Specialist

Marylou discovered Bowen Therapy in 2003 when she attended a Bowen Therapy course and used her father as her first case study. He had been suffering from a shoulder injury for two years after a fall from a horse, and after six months of conventional treatments, he still couldn’t lift his arm more than 45 degrees. After just three Bowen sessions, he regained full movement in his arm—and never looked back.

Marylou has always had a passion for the human body, nutrition, and healthy living. After 18 years in the food industry, she decided to pursue her true calling and became a Bowen Therapist. Today, she continues to be amazed by the powerful and gentle healing effects of Bowen Therapy.

  What is Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy helps your body remember how to heal itself. It is a hands-on, remedial therapy stimulates the nervous system, encouraging your body to rebalance and repair naturally—without being forced. Through gentle, precise movements at specific points on the body, Bowen Therapy activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System (the body’s “rest, digest, and repair mode”) and deactivates the stress-inducing Autonomic Nervous System (the “fight or flight” response).

How Bowen Therapy Works

Bowen Therapy releases deep-seated stress by working with the body’s fascia—the soft connective tissue surrounding muscles, tendons, and nerves. These gentle Bowen moves send neurological impulses to the brain, which then triggers the body’s self-corrective feedback mechanisms, sending signals down the spinal cord to muscles, rebalancing the body chemically, hormonally, and physically. Bowen Therapy addresses dysfunctional areas in the fascia, allowing the body to realign itself naturally.

As Bowen Therapy promotes deep relaxation, many people feel the calming effects immediately and may even fall asleep during a session. This deep relaxation is essential for the body to heal. Bowen Therapy has been practiced for over 70 years, with clinical trials backing its effectiveness. It’s gaining worldwide recognition—most notably, it was used by athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

EVERY ‘BODY’ IS DIFFERENT

Whether you’re dealing with musculoskeletal injuries, low energy, sleep disturbances, or chronic conditions, Bowen Therapy works by addressing the root causes, not just the symptoms. This therapy is safe for all ages—from newborns to the elderly—and can be performed directly on the skin or through light clothing.
